Baumgartsche Gasse

Bombardische Gasse

History

After the young town was demolished, it was probably settled by the former residents. Otherwise both name and scope very constant. Named after the war after the Danzig astronomer Johannes Hevelcke.

In 1456, first mentioned as Bombardische Gasse, likely named after the Baumgartsche Gasse that existed previously in the Jungstadt ("young town") which was destroyed in 1454.
