Große Scheibenrittergasse

History

The name actually comes from the glassmakers who lived here, who were called "Schievenrieser" in Low German in the 15th century. What has been made from this simple term can be seen above. On maps from the late 18th century, there appear a Kleine (Small) and a Große (Large) Scheibenrittergasse. Today, it is simply called Glasergasse, which translates to Glassmakers' Alley.
